Made in Portugal by APC, one of the best national chordophone brands, the APC TT CW is a high quality tenor ukulele, with a cutaway design so that they can reach the highest points of their scale. It also includes a simple and good quality pre-amplification system.
The APC TT CW is made completely of solid wood. The top, bottom and sides are in koa, a species of acacia native to Hawaii, which gives it the identity and sound of instruments native to the American island.
With a discreet look, this model has a great aesthetic richness thanks to the natural tones and lines of the wood, which give it a very organic look.
The neck is in mahogany, with an 18-fret African black wood fingerboard, which can be fully accessed thanks to the cutaway shape of the body. It also includes a preamp, with volume and EQ controls, as well as a built-in tuner, always useful for any occasion. The sound is always defined and of good quality, faithful to the original sound of traditional ukuleles, whether in acoustic or amplified mode.
The tenor ukulele is the largest of the ukulele models, with a case larger than the concert ukulele and traditionally with a larger scale. It is widely used by more advanced musicians who want an instrument that makes itself heard and has a superior melodic range.
The ukulele was taken by Portuguese sailors to the American Pacific Islands to encourage the crews on their long voyages. It later became a hugely popular instrument in the early decades of the 20th century, when Hawaiian-inspired music filled the early days of radio in the United States, and kept American soldiers company in World War II.
Today, this direct descendant of the Portuguese cavaquinho is one of the most popular instruments in the world as it is easy to learn and a lot of fun to play. And its portability remains one of its strengths.
APC was founded in 1976 by António Pinto Carvalho, who descends from a centenary school of luthiers in Porto. The company has about 45 artisans who build different types of traditional Portuguese and other chordophones. APC is the largest national company in this field, producing and selling instruments to more than twenty countries.
The APC TT CW is a world music instrument for musicians around the world. Made in Portugal.
