The mandolin has its origins in the early 16th century in Italy, where it developed in different versions. It was very popular among the noble classes, and quickly spread to European courts, where it could be seen in the lap of many ladies. With four pairs of strings, it is tuned like the violin (high to low - E La D Sol).
As it was liked by the nobility and the high bourgeoisie, it received the attention of great composers such as Vivaldi, Beethoven, Handel, Verdi and Mozart, who wrote pieces for this instrument.
Mandolins come in many national or regional variations, with bodies of different shapes, entering modern times with electrified versions. In his close family are Bandola, Bandoleta and Bandoloncelo.
Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the leading brands in the artisanal construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. It is a family business, continued by masters Manuel Carvalho and José Carvalho, who still follow the construction method started by their grandfather, master Joaquim José Machado.
The Artimúsica BD42TC mandolin is an instrument of great construction and sound quality, a luxury for the eyes and ears. Made in Portugal.
