Artimúsica BD40TL is a Portuguese mandolin with a special touch. Made in Portugal.
The Artimúsica mandolin BD40TL is built with traditional techniques, developed by the artisans' experience at Artimúsica, one of the biggest brands of traditional instruments in Portugal.
It is a model made with selected woods, following the traditional model of the Portuguese mandolin, with a pear-shaped body and a flat bottom box. The top is made of spruce, a wood with a beautiful texture and a lighter shade, which contrasts perfectly with the walnut cherry or plane tree used to build the bottom and the sides.
The neck is in mahogany and the scale is in panga panga, a very resistant and durable wood, for intensive use for decades. The careful finishes, the attention to detail, the quality of the woods, the simple decoration with emphasis on the tear-shaped scroll make this instrument have a very special personality.
In addition to the detail of the volute, we have the corresponding fan tuning system instead of the traditional tuning machines, which gives it another precision and an even more classic look.
The bright and very defined sound of the Artimúsica BD40TL allows it to be perfectly heard in the trills and melodic accompaniments that characterize the use of this instrument. As it has an easy and comfortable touch, the BD40TL allows full use of specific mandolin techniques, making it ideal for more advanced musicians.
The mandolin is a chordophone, with strings of 4 double strings, tuned from the highest to the lowest in E-E, A-A, D-D, G-G, a tuning identical to the violin or the upper four strings of the guitar . It is a mainly solo instrument, used mainly for trills and exhibition and development of the melodic theme of a piece.
The Portuguese mandolin resulted from the evolution of the original instrument of Italian origin, which in turn descended from the lute. It fell into disuse throughout the 20th century, but it was recovered by musicians who wanted to revive the Portuguese musical tradition, being an integral part of academic tunas.
Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the benchmarks in the artisanal construction of traditional Portuguese instruments. It is a family business, continued by the masters Manuel Carvalho and José Carvalho, who still follow the construction method initiated by their grandfather, master Joaquim José Machado.
Artimúsica BD40TL is a traditional mandolin, with unique characteristics, for special musicians.
