String Set Dragão 057 for Cavaquinho 4 Strings
Dragão string set for cavaquinho. Complete with 4 strings. The cavaquinho is a traditional portuguese cordophone with origin in Minho and that originated many other instruments. In Portugal this instrument gained a new interest from the release of Júlio Pereira's album, precisely called Cavaquinho.
In its original form, the cavaquinho is an instrument with 12 frets and 4-strings, but there are some variants of the 6- or 8-string cavaquinho, the latter known in Portugal as "cavaquinho de tuna".
It has several tunings, being the tuning of the city of Braga D-A-B-E (from high to low). Metal strings are now used, as well as other tunings, such as D-B-G-G, E-C#-A-A or E-D-B-G.
Use the proper string gauge for the tuning you will use as the strings are thin and are tuned with a high tension.
