The authors of this studies believe that studies for classical guitar are indispensable for the formation of basic technique and musicality. The aim of the two volumes of studies by Stephen Dodgson and Hector Quine is to contribute to this goal. This is the first volume.

Classical studies, with their attractive yet predictable standards, sometimes fall far short of the needs of guitar students to rarely develop their general musical ability and also do not sufficiently expand their reading ability, musical imagination, or technical curiosity : They are also far from meeting the needs for complex rhythmic forms and unusual sonorities, which the student will find in the songs of the XX or XXI century.
These studies were written with an innovative spirit, in the belief that they contribute to these needs.
