The pickup configuration has been traditional since the Telecaster's origins: two Standard Tele® single coils, one on the neck and one on the bridge. Even though there are only two pickups, each of the three positions has a distinct sound, from the signature classic country chicken-picking sound to the lead sound of the bridge pickup.
