Description

The traditional Portuguese cavaquinho Artimúsica CV15C is a semi-luxury model, with high quality  details and finishes. Built in Portugal.

The Artimúsica CV15C is a model of great sound quality and construction, which represents the best that is made in Portugal when it comes to traditional instruments.

Artimúsica craftsmen chose the best materials to make the CV15C. The top is in solid spruce and solid rosewood, creating a contrasting effect between its two half-tops, divided by a traditional mouth in the shape of a stripe.

The bottom and sides are in walnut, cherry, sycamore or Australian mahogany, with a glossy finish that enhances the natural grain of the wood. The neck is in poplar, and the fretboard is in rosewood, giving a beautiful effect of continuity from the upper half-top.

The choice of woods is made with the bright sound of this instrument in mind, as well as its longevity, in addition to offering it a very natural look and great aesthetic value.

The four strings are tuned by a set of 2+2 nickel-plated chimes, which allows for the most intense interpretations. There are several tunings for the cavaquinho. The traditional tuning, from the highest string to the lowest, is in D - B - G - G.

There are still other variations, in different keys, as in G: D - B - G - D; in A: E - C# - A - E; in C: G -E -C -G; and in C: G - E - C - C. But there are many others that prove the versatility and richness of this simple and versatile instrument.

The cavaquinho is one of the most popular Portuguese chordophones, played in several traditional genres. And, more recently, it has found space in other more modern musical genres that benefit from its bright and very lively sound.

Artimúsica is one of the most distinguished brands of Portuguese popular instruments, which manufactures all its instruments respecting the musical and manufacturing tradition of each one of them.

Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is a family business that applies the construction methods initiated by master Joaquim José Machado over 100 years ago. Nowadays, their descendants manufacture each instrument as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique and of high quality.

The Artimúsica CV15C is a traditional cavaquinho that has its notes well established in the future of national music.
