Description

The cavaquinho Artimúsica CV13C is a Minho model of this Portuguese instrument. With soundhole in ray form, and standard tuning machines.

The Artimúsica cavaquinho CV13C is an affordable cavaquinho made from selected woods. The two-color soundboard of this cavaquinho follows the traditional aesthetics of northern Portugal, using the lightest half linden wood and the darkest panga panga, both solid, for greater soundness and richer sound.

The fretboard is also in panga panga and the neck is in poplar. The bottom and sides are in walnut, cherry, maple or mahogany from Australia. The top finish is open-pored on the top and shiny on the rest of the instrument for added protection and wood longevity.

Traditionally accompanying female voices in traditional Minho songs, the cavaquinho is also used with male voices in academic tunas. This brilliant-sounding rhythm and harmony instrument can interpret a variety of traditional styles, from "vira" to "chulas", to "malhões" to "canas verdes", as well as being integrated into more modern compositions.

The cavaquinho is traditionally tuned from the highest to the lowest string in D - B - G - G, particularly in Minho. Throughout the country the cavaquinho can be tuned differently, as in G: D - B - G - D; in A: E - C# - A - e; in C: G -E-C-G; in C: G - E - C - C.

These variations open up huge possibilities for integrating the cavaquinho as an accompaniment instrument or soloist in a traditional music ensemble, with some more modern ensembles integrating it into more contemporary sound aesthetics and styles that are far from Minho's songs.

This cavaquinho is an Artimúsica product, one of the most illustrious Portuguese popular instrument brands. Founded in September 1992, Artimúsica is one of the reference brands in the artisan construction of traditional Portuguese instruments, following the construction method started by master Joaquim José Machado, over 100 years ago. Today their descendants manufacture each instrument as if it were a true work of art, making each piece unique and high quality.

Cavaquinho Artimúsica CV13C is a representative of this rich legacy of the portuguese traditional music and the experience and knowledge of portuguese artisans.
