In 2002, when awareness of the danger of plastics to the environment began to emerge and some supermarkets began removing bags from checkouts, Turtle Bags was created to raise awareness of the dangers of plastic bags and offer alternatives.

Plastic in the seas is a serious problem and remains invisible to most of us in our daily lives, but there is no doubt that it will cause problems for many decades to come, disrupting food chains and suffocating marine life. Turtles travel to British waters in search of jellyfish, but unfortunately they mistake our discarded plastic bags for their favorite food.

Turtle Bags works with Fairtrade partners who share the same environmental values to provide bags. Inspired by turtles, our Turtle Bags are a practical reminder that plastic never goes away.
